I think you should try to push this angle and with the people you photograph ask about where they see themselves in the future. I’m curious to see if everyone has a similar answer of “I want to move off the island” or “I want to live on the island my entire life.” Maybe contact the high school's college counselor and see if he/she will give you any statistics about the percentage of kids graduating high school, moving on to college, etc. Has the trend changed over the past 10 years?
